Summer Library lineup presents Soda Pups Dog Show

The Soda Pups Dog Show will return to Merrill on Wednesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. in the Prairie River Middle School fieldhouse. The show features trainers, Jack and Nancy Zolkowski, and their five Pomeranian dogs named after popular soft drinks. The dogs perform tricks, agility and obedience skills, including riding in a toy Hummer. See photos and learn more at sodapupsshow.blogspot.com. The final summer session of Read to a Dog will be on Monday, July 22, from 6-7 p.m. Readers of all abilities are invited to read to Kris Smith’s dog, Kodie, in the library storyhour room on a first come, first served basis.
Lunch Bunch for grades 3 to 5 continues on Tuesdays at noon, through July 30, in the community room with stories, age-appropriate activities and crafts. Children should bring a sack lunch and may attend any or all of the sessions. Pre-registration is appreciated.
Family Movie Night on Thursday, July 25, will feature a G rated animated movie about an orphaned dinosaur. The 67 minute show begins at 6 p.m. in the library community room, sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Popcorn and water will be provided.
“Dig into Reading!” will wrap up with a hands-on craft event, “Dig into Crafts,” on Wednesday, July 31, from 1- 2 p.m. at the library. July 31 will also be the last day for children to return completed reading cards to spin the prize wheel.
The teen reading program for grades 6 to 12 continues until Aug. 23. Teens are encouraged to visit the library Teen Zone and take the Underground Trivia challenge for fun and for a chance to win prizes.
