Ex-GBP highlights Merrill Golf Boosters tourney

Area golfers will have a chance to hit the links for a good cause next month as the Merrill Golf Booster Club will hold its 9th Annual Tournament Saturday, July 13, at the Merrill Golf Course. All proceeds from the tournament go to support the MHS golf team and the junior golf program.
Participants have a chance to win numerous raffle prizes, flag events, a $25,000 Hole-In-One shoot-out, a $500 closest to the pin event, and one-year membership at the M.G.C. Lunch and a dinner banquet are included with the entry fee of $75 (non-members), $55 (members) or $40 (members with cart membership). Divisions include: men’s, women’s and Peoria handicap.
Bill Schroeder, Wisconsin native and former Green Bay Packer, will be a special guest. Since his retirement from pro football, Schroeder has continued to participate in charity events, national speaking, sports training and athletic camps throughout the country. He has participated in hundreds of long drive contests, twice qualifying for the world finals. His longest drive is 457 yards with his best in competition being 412 yards. Schroeder will show his skills during the day and speak at the banquet.
Registration for this year’s event begins at 8:00 a.m. with a short program by Bill Schroeder starting at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Call 715-536-2529 to register your team at the M.G.C. or email: [email protected].
