Wayne D. Kleinschmidt
Wayne D. Kleinschmidt, age 67, of Merrill, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at his home.
Wayne was born on March 27, 1946, in Merrill, son of the late Rudolph and Florinda (Sabatke) Kleinschmidt. He married Judith R. Jaeger on June 21, 1969, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Wayne worked for Northern Door Corp. for 20 years and Fox Point Sportswear for 20+ years. He had also worked at Northern Wire for three years, and retired in 2008.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Wayne also loved his cat, Tommey. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to hunt in his younger years, fish, watch the birds, and talk to them. Wayne also liked to camp; and after 30 years of camping, he took his last camping trip in 2012. Wayne had a lot of pride and joys; building things, welding, his shop, his yard, and his toys (tractor and 4-wheeler). Wayne’s dream was to own a convertible. He and his wife purchased a hard-top convertible in recent years, and enjoyed a road trip to Florida. Wayne was a very hard worker. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Survivors include his wife, Judith R. Kleinschmidt, of Merrill; two daughters, Sandra (Mike) Loucks, of Medford, and Julie (Corey) Maschke, of Merrill; four grandchildren, Patrick Kleinschmidt, Eric Kottke, Andrew Loucks, and Allie Maschke; one sister, Darlene (Orville) Schult, of Merrill; one brother, Gene (D’Etta) Kleinschmidt, of Merrill; his mother-in-law, Lois Jaeger, of Merrill; one sister-in-law, Joyce ‘Totsy’ Kleinschmidt, of Merrill; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Schmidt, of Merrill, Randal (Sharon) Jaeger, of Merrill, and Lyle Jaeger, of Savage, MN. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Florinda Kleinschmidt; three sisters, Phyllis Schmidt, Joyce (Leslie) Weber, and infant Dorothy; two brothers, Vernon Kleinschmidt and Elroy ‘Bud’ (Velma ‘Diddy’) Kleinschmidt; two nieces, Lois Kleinschmidt and Connie Weber; two nephews, Jesse Roman and Brian Weber; and his father-in-law, Norman Jaeger.
The funeral was Monday, June 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Gustafson officiated. Burial is at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott, Lincoln County.
