Marshfield Clinic donated $1,500 to the Merrill Social Norms project, which is working to reduce the use of alcohol and drugs by students in the Merrill school district.
The Social Norms project began in 2005 with help from the Lincoln County Drug Free Coalition. Since 2007, the project has surveyed students, teachers and parents about alcohol and drug use. Data collected has been used to develop campaign messages to influence the students to stop drinking alcohol or using drugs.
“The work this group has done fits nicely with Marshfield Clinic’s emphasis on healthy living,” said Gail Bloch, Merrill Center Administrator.
