The Merrill Area Public School Board announced that it has unanimously selected Walter Leipart to be Superintendent of the Merrill Area Public Schools.
Leipart currently serves as the Superintendent in the Phillips School District after previously serving as 7-12 principal of the Loyal School District and social studies teacher in the Colby School District. Leipart also served as the wrestling coach at Colby.
Leipart received his administrative licensure at Winona State University; Master of Education Administration at Marian University; Master of Education Professional Development at University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse; and, his Bachelor Education (6-12) Social Studies at Mount Scenario College.
“The Board saw a hands-on, problem-solving leader,” said Don Stevens, interim superintendent of Merrill Area Public Schools. “Wally gave specific answers to issues that are pending and relevant to the Merrill Area Public Schools, related to the environment post Act 10.”
Leipart has formally accepted the offer, contingent upon the Board and Leipart reaching an agreement on an employment contract.
