Robins start and close strong

The Hatchets got a look at the upper end of the GNC at Antigo on Friday, and watched a blazing start. The Red Robins jumped out 10-1 on the way to a 46-30 win.
“We were fortunate that we played so well defensively otherwise this game could have gotten out of hand,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “We didn’t play well enough offensively to win the game. Our defense was very good, we held a good offensive team to 46 points, but it’s tough to win when you have 22 turnovers.
Tomahawk whittled Antigo’s 18-7 second-quarter margin to 24-15 by the half, and 26-19 in the third. A three-point play to start the fourth made it 32-26, but Antigo took off from there.
“Their 1-3-1 really gave us problems,” Albert said. “We had three turnovers to start the third and three turnovers to end the third, and that helped them maintain their lead.”
THS contributions came from: Chris Schoone (13 p, 10 r); Jon Nyberg (6 p, 5 r); and Jared Jarvensivu (9 p).
Tomahawk-FG: 10-26 (38%); FT: 6-9 (67%).
Tomahawk is 6-9 on the season and 1-7 in the GNC. Antigo is 13-2 overall and 6-2, a half-game out of first place, in conference.
