The Hatchet boys hockey team dropped a 7-1 contest to Stevens Point Pacelli at SARA Park last Thursday, but early indications gave no clue to the final outcome.
Neither team scored until just 1:04 remained in the first period when Pacelli’s Luke Yenter pierced the net. He wouldn’t score again, but he set up four other goals.
Point pushed it to 3-0 midway through the second, but the Hatchets cut it to 3-1 with Colton Kammer’s score (A- A.J. Bunce, Trevor Iwen) with :49 left in the frame.
But the Cardinals tallied four more in the third, the final two on the power play. Zach Jensen had 2 goals and 2 assists.
Saves-THS-Danny Hanke 9-7-1-17, 5 g; Brad Buitron *-*-9-9, 2 g. SPP-Joe Fuller 3-4-9-16.
THS is 3-7 in the GNC (6-11 overall) while Pacelli is 7-10. The Hatchets’ game with Medford, scheduled for last Tuesday was postponed due to school cancellation for cold.
