Lincoln County Sheriff?s reports

Not all controlled burns need to be reported to the 911 center at the Sheriff’s Office but those that are in well-traveled areas or are large in size should be as a Gleason man found out on Monday night. At 5:30 p.m. a cell 911 call reported a possible structure fire on 1st Ave near County Line Rd in the Town of Russell. With no controlled burns in the area the Town of Russell Fire Department was sent to the scene along with the Langlade County Town of Peck and deputies from both Lincoln and Langlade counties. Just as Russell firefighters were arriving on the scene the property owner phoned in to report his burn. Residents should also keep in mind with the mild weather complete snow coverage is required for burning under the winter burning rules.
A 36 year old Merrill man will be summonsed into Lincoln County Circuit Court on a felony bail jumping charges after deputies found him violating terms of his court ordered bond. On Wednesday afternoon deputies got a tip that the male was with the victim of a crime at a residence on County Rd K in the Town of Merrill. Deputies arrived and confirmed the information. The pair was separated.
Icy roads caused problems on the roadways on Friday and caused serious injuries to a Price County woman. Deputies started receiving calls late Thursday night about vehicles leaving the roadway due to freezing rain. In all, four property damage crashes were investigated and three slide-offs. Just after 10 a.m. cell callers reported a vehicle that had left the roadway and rolled on US Hwy 8 in the Town of Somo. According to the deputy’s report, Denise M. Harubin, age 55, of Brantwood, was traveling east on US Hwy 8 near West Circle Drive when she lost control of her vehicle. It entered the north ditch and rolled over landing back on its wheels. Harubin was removed from her vehicle by Tomahawk EMS with the assistance of Tomahawk Firefighters. She was transported to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital. An attempt to fly Harubin to a trauma center failed due to the icy weather. She was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she was listed in fair condition over the weekend in the ICU unit.
