THS tops Ladysmith

The Hatchets boys improved to 4-2 with a 65-43 home rout of Ladysmith last Tuesday, then dropped to 0-3 in the GNC with Friday’s 62-39 loss at Rhinelander.
The Hatchets used a 20-5 run at the end of the 1st to grab a 24-11 lead, and an 11-4 spurt to close out the 3rd at 55-34.
“This was a big win for us after we didn’t play very well the last couple times out,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “Our defense was real solid, and offensively we handled their half-court pressure and took care of the basketball.”
Contributions came from: Jared Jarvensivu (23 p, 3 r, 3 st, 9 a); Jordan Roessler (14 p, 5 r); Jon Nyberg (13 p, 3 a); Lorne Ahrens (4 p, 9 r, 3 st); Fletcher Schoone (9 p).
Tomahawk-FG: 25-43 (58%); FT: 7-13 (73%).
Hodag hurt
The Hodags used a 13-0 run to post a 19-8 lead after a quarter and pushed it to 33-18 and 48-27 after the next two before capping it with a 14-12 4th.
“Rhinelander is ranked #9 in D2 for a reason,” Albert said. “We took care of the basketball, but didn’t shoot at a very high percentage.”
Pacing THS were: Roessler (12 p, 4 r); Jarvensivu (8 p, 6 r, 2 bl); Nyberg (6 p, 8 r); Schoone (7 p); and Jon Barkholz (3 p).
Tomahawk-FG: 13-40 (33%); FT: 11-18 (61%).
