Anton “Tony” Gilliard

Anton “Tony” Gilliard, of Merrill, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home. He was 83 years old.

He was born on September 16, 1929 in Chicago, IL.
He owned and operated a dairy farm in Gleason for 21 years. He was a construction worker and master plumber having worked in Merrill and Wausau.
Mr. Gilliard was a HAM radio operator using the handle “Tony Tiger.” He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and playing bingo.
Survivors include a son Jerry (Sally) Gilliard, Merrill, two daughters Bev Fingerhut, Merrill, Cindy (Tim) Hanson, Gleason; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Patricia Packard, Antigo and the mother of his children Ellen Gilliard, Gleason.
He was preceded in death by a son Robert Gilliard, a daughter Linda Gilliard, his mother Alvina (Lukas) Gilliard and his step-father Burton Gilliard.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45 in Antigo. Burial will take place in Forestview Cemetery in the town of Vilas.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
