John T. ‘Porker’ Weix, age 49, of Merrill, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston, surrounded by his family and friends.
John was born August 28, 1963, in Merrill, son of Sally Angus and the late Emil Joe Weix. He married Lorri Eilola on June 4, 1986. She survives. John worked for the City of Merrill Street Department in the Recycling Department. John graduated from Merrill Senior High School, where he lettered in football. He was currently a member of the Merrill Silver “M” Club, and had also been a volunteer football coach at the middle school. John enjoyed cooking, hunting and spending time at the hunting cabin, baseball, coaching softball, and spending time with his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lorri Weix, Merrill; his mother, Sally Weix-Wiley, Merrill; a daughter, Sara Weix, Merrill; a son, Patrick Weix, Merrill; one sister, Patty (Matt) Piikkila, Marinette; two brothers, Michael (Alicia) Weix, and Steve (Joelene) Weix, both of Merrill; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John is preceded in death by his father, Emil Joe Weix; an infant son, Brian; and his stepfather, Gene Wiley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2012, in Assisi Hall at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Sister John Marie Simien will preside. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Assisi Hall. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Merrill Silver “M” Club or the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638.
