Evelyn M. Tomajcik, 97, of Merrill, died Wednesday June 6, 2012 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, surrounded by her family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born August 14, 1914 in Merrill to the late Edward & Emma (Wendorf) Neumann. On September 23, 1931 she married Sylvester “Mike” Tomajcik in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death November 15, 1993.
Evelyn worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory as a machine operator for 28 years. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening, taking trips to the casino and time spent at the cottage. Evelyn was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son: Duane Tomajcik, Merrill; daughters: Audrey Blum, Mary (Marvin) Anderson, and Judy Stevens, all of Merrill; daughter-in-law: Carlyn Tomajcik; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvester, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Tomajcik, grandson, Joseph Tomajcik and brother, Raymond Neumann.
Funeral mass will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Mike McLain will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday, June 11, 2012 at Waid Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7pm, and again from 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to St. Francis Catholic Church, Pine Crest Nursing Home or to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
