Patriotic Art

Annie DeBroux created the “Left to Carry On” piece for the 2011 Ladies Auxiliary Patriotic Art contest as a Merrill High School freshman. Annie’s piece competed locally and advanced to win first place at the State of Wisconsin Ladies Auxiliary. “Left to Carry On” placed sixth at the national competition.

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 1638 approached Annie about offering limited edition signed and numbered prints of her art, both as a fund raising opportunity and to offer other Veterans organizations a copy of the print to help them raise funds as well. Annie granted permission to produce and offer to the public the first 200 of a 300-print limited edition and the first 100 of 150 canvas prints.

“This is a great opportunity for our organization to increase our participation in our Patriotic Art contest, stir interest in our organization, raise much needed funds for our Auxiliary and many veterans organizations, and most of all recognize the talent and time that our local Merrill High School students put into their entries,” said Tracy Jopek, coordinator of the Patriotic Art contest for the Post 1638 Auxiliary.

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 1638 will host Annie at 205 N. Cleveland St., Merrill, on Friday, May 25, to sign her first 30 prints and 5 canvasses to be offered to the public.

To place an order for a “Left to Carry On” print, order blanks are available at the Merrill VFW Post, through the VFW Post 1638 Auxiliary Facebook page, or by calling tracy Jopek at 715-536-0540. Cost is $40 for a 12×18 print or $70 for a stretched canvas 12×18.
