Edna E. (Alberg) Koebe
Edna E. (Alberg) Koebe passed away May 9, 2012, at Woodland Court in Merrill.
She was born on September 20, 1919, in Irma, daughter of the late Edwin and Gertrude (Sisson) Alberg. Edna attended schools in Tomahawk and Merrill, graduating from Merrill High School with the class of 1938. On November 23, 1940, Edna married Roman “Bobo” Koebe in Dubuque, Iowa. They were married for 67 years before Roman’s death in 2008. Edna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, and had served on the Altar Guild. Edna spent most of her life as a mother and homemaker. She loved to entertain friends and family with good food, and always tried to coax everyone to eat a little more. Edna was always available to her children and grandchildren for whatever they needed. She was a kind and gentle person. For 30 years Edna’s favorite place to be was their cottage on Half Moon Lake near Tomahawk. She loved the peace she felt in that surrounding.
Edna is survived by four children, Jack (Karen) Koebe, Seymour, Bruce (Ann) Koebe, Palm City, Florida, Marilyn (Virgil) Baumgart, Marshfield, and Jay (Polly) Koebe, Merrill; fifteen grandchildren, Steve Koebe, Christina (Larry) Potter, Cyndy Koebe, Brent (Amy) Koebe, Phil (Angie) Koebe, Hali Koebe, Mindy (Jonathan) Spanier, Nick Koebe, Karlyn Koebe, Rhianna Koebe, Adam Baumgart, Bret Baumgart, Ian Koebe, Sam Koebe, and Noah Koebe; eleven great grandchildren, Bailie, Jake, Eiley, Sierra, Maggie, Zach, Jamie, Owen, Jessica, Joe, and Aiden; one brother, Duane (Pat) Alberg, Tomahawk; and a sister in law, Alice Alberg, Merrill. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Roman, a brother, Melvin Alberg, and two sisters, Elaine Alft and Audrey Saeger.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodland Court for the wonderful, caring, and compassionate care given to our mother during the five years she lived there.
