Roland J. ?Jerry? Moore

Roland J. “Jerry” Moore, 92, of W6435 W. Kraft Road, Tomahawk, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Golden Living-Riverview Rehab and Care Center in Tomahawk.
Jerry was born May 26, 1919 in Cicero, IL. At the age of 17 Jerry was drafted into the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended college in Chicago after the war and continued a career in the United States Air Force as an aeronautic mechanic. He later served in the Korean War and Vietnam War becoming a 3 time war veteran. He was married to Phyllis Skrede on June 7, 1952 in Pascagoula, MS, she passed away in 1998.
Following his retirement from the Air Force Jerry joined the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, serving as a deputy sheriff for many years. He later worked at Owens Illinois Paper Mill in Tomahawk and as a driver for Sacred Heart Hospital.
Jerry was a member of the VFW, the Masonic Lodge, and Civil Air Patrol. He also fulfilled a lifelong love of flying and purchased his pride and joy, a Piper Warrior Cub II personal aircraft. In May of 2011 Jerry was accompanied by his daughter, Susan, on the trip of a lifetime, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
Survivors include: a son, Rodney (RaeLea) Moore of Holt, MI, and their children, Melanie, Caroline, Joshua, and Jacqueline; a daughter, Susan (Dixon “Speedy”) Kuzmik of Wausau, and their children, Jafia Kuzmik and her daughter, Emma, Jenna Kuzmik, Katelyn Haarala of Oshkosh and her son, Jayce.
Jerry is further survived by a companion, Karen Fehr of Merrill, and his dear friend and caretaker, Vicki Carstensen.
Funeral services for R. Jerry Moore will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11 a.m. from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow at Merrill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Sunday, May 6 from 4 until 8 p.m. with a military tribute service to be held at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 at Grace Lutheran Church.
