On Jan. 18 at about 3:24 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Merrill Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at the Dugout Bar on County Rd. K in the town of Merrill.

Upon arrival of the owner, who was also responding to the alarm, he saw four subjects flee the establishment. After a search of the area, three suspects were arrested and brought to the Lincoln County Jail.
An investigation ensued and it was found that the Dugout Bar was burglarized and vandalized during the incident. There were also other thefts and burglaries in the area that morning.
At approximately 4 p.m. a search warrant was served in the city of Merrill and the fourth suspect was arrested at his residence.
All four were booked into jail on burglary charges. The Lincoln County District Attorney’s office will review the cases and make final charging decisions. The four will make their initial appearances Thursday afternoon.
Arrested near the scene were Deamon T. Boettcher, 19, of Merrill; Tony A. Hurburt, 21, of Durand; and James E. Madden, 20, of Wausau. Arrested after the search warrant Wednesday afternoon was Michael W. Wienandt, 18, of Merrill.
