THS small squad swims strong

The THS swimmers dropped a close 82-74 meet to Medford on Thursday, just three weeks after an 83-67 defeat.
“Awesome meet tonight for the Hatchet swimmers!” THS coach Marion Kohl said. “The guys pulled together really well, and despite the loss we’re pretty happy with the overall outcome. We held the Raiders to almost the same score as last meet, while scoring an additional 7 points ourselves.
“With only 7 guys swimming vs. their 10, we think we held our own very well. All of the Hatchets scored individual place points tonight, so it truly was a group effort.”
The Hatchets were missing Paul Schneiderwent, who has not returned from concussion issues.
John Lazarz pulled down individual wins in the 100 fly (1:07.65) and 200 IM (2:23.90). Vic Ierulli won the 50 free (:27.01) and was 2nd in the 500 free (6:37.73). Alex Tollison was 2nd in both the 100 free (1:03.54) and 100 back (1:17.83).
The Hatchets took 1st in all three relays, including: 200 medley (Tollison, Chase Hilgendorf, Lazarz, Aaron Becker, 2:12.98); 200 free (Becker, Taylor Randall, Hilgendorf, Ierulli, 1:59.53); and 400 free (Ierulli, Chris Weaver, Tollison, Lazarz, 4:23.07).
Placing 3rd were: Weaver (200 free, 2:33.16); Becker (50 free, :29.55); Hilgendorf (100 fly, 1:31.11); and Randall (100 brea, 1:32.95).
