Pearl R. Schield

Pearl R. Schield died Jan. 12, 2012, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
She was born May 29, 1924, to Olga Wethal in Chicago, IL and adopted by Reinhold and Emma Krause on March 26, 1927. Pearl was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephens United Church of Christ by Rev. Schmidt. On Oct. 1, 1942, she married Lawrence Schield at St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a member until her death. She was employed at Holy Cross Hospital for over 25 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Christine (Howard) Peck, Patricia Krombholz, and Stephanie(Mark) Cooper; nine grandchildren, Dr. Bradley (Lisa) Peck, Sarah (Pete) Koskey, Tasha (Troy) Schmidt, Pastor James (Stefeny) Krombholtz, Matthew (Heather) Krombholz, Aaron (Tiranie) Teschner, Miriam (Travis) Cooper, Leah (Nick) Eifert, and Rachel (Christopher) Eifert; 19 great grandchildren, Trevor and Molly Peck, Christopher and Tyler Koskey, Christian and Ava Schmidt, Jakob, Luke, Gretta, Holden, and Emma Krombholz, Nicholas, Isaac, Lillian and Logan Eifert, Rhiannon, Cecilia and Julian Teschner, and Ethan Hefty; one sister, Lila (Tom) Riley; one brother-in-law, Raymond (Arlene) Schield; and nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Schield.
A special thank you to the staff of Bell Tower Residence for the love, care, empathy and compassion given to Pearl. Thank you to her dearest friends at Bell Tower, Margaret, Marge, Charlette, Sister Rita, Virginia, Rita, Eleanor and Linda.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran School or Bell Tower Residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Entombment will be in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
