Louis Bushar, 85, of Merrill, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Louis was born October 18, 1926 to the late Phillip and Cecelia (Willet) Bushar. He married Joyce Berdan on March 11, 1950. She died November 21, 2003.
Louis served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to the states and worked for Merrill Gravel & Construction until 1978 when he retired due to health concerns. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Louis enjoyed the outdoors, traveling with his wife in their RV, hunting and fishing.
Louis is survived by his son, Terry Bushar of Irma; 4 sisters, Jane (Phil) Kleinfeldt of Tomahawk, Audrey Herring of Tomahawk, Phyllis (Raymond) Gilson of Merrill and Kathy Zimmerman of Merrill; 2 brothers, Phillip Bushar and David (Karen) Bushar, both of Merrill; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. The Rev. Mike McLain will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 12:00 – 12:30 PM at the Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Town of Rock Falls. VFW Post 1638 will provide military honors. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
