Neff named to succeed Seubert as police chief

At its meeting Monday night, the Merrill Police and Fire Commission accepted, with its thanks for his excellent service, the retirement of Police Chief Ned Seubert effective March 31, 2012. The Commission then went on to discuss the process for filling that position.
After review of the applications on file, the Commission decided to offer the position of Police Chief to Captain Kenneth J. Neff, a veteran of the Merrill Police Department. Neff had previously applied for the position and it is expected that he will assume these duties on April 1, 2012.
Neff was not in attendance at the meeting, but was notified of the selection by telephone.
Mayor Bill Bialecki expressed pleasure with the selection.
“Ken Neff has big shoes to fill, but we know he’s up to the job. It’s a great choice for Police Chief,” he said.
