Bertha M. Hehling, age 88, of Merrill, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Bertha was born April 7, 1923, in the town of Schley, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothea (Frick) Heald. She married Eldor Hehling on November 6, 1943, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1985. Bertha was a homemaker. She had been an aid with the Lincoln County Department of Social Services. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Bertha was a very active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill.
Survivors include her daughter, Eileen Ostrowsky, Sun Prairie; one granddaughter, Gina Kronebusch, Muskego; two great grandchildren, Andrew and Elisabeth Ostrowsky; one sister, Edith Shelley, Sonoma, CA; one brother, Robert (Alice) Heald, Florida; a special niece/caregiver, Barbara (Joe) Polak, Merrill; a special great niece, Rose Hehling, Merrill; and dear friend, Vera Ormosen, Merrill. Bertha is preceded in death by one son in law, William Ostrowsky; two sisters, Marjorie Heald, and one in infancy; and one brother, Milton Heald.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Maurice Schauss will officiate. Burial of Bertha’s cremated remains will take place in the spring of 2012 in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
