Catherine E. Paff, 90, of Merrill, died December 5, 2011 at her home.
She was born December 4, 1921 in Hartford, Wisconsin to the late George and Mathilda (Hester) Paff.
Catherine was raised and graduated high school in Hartford and attended teachers college. She taught briefly after World War II and later became an accountant for Mobil Oil. Upon the death of her parents, she relocated to Dallas, Texas for work reasons. After her retirement, she moved to Merrill, Wisconsin to be near her brother, John Paff of Marathon and her older sister, Eleanor Grabowski of Merrill. Catherine enjoyed painting, public radio, gardening and reading. She was strongly committed to her faith and church, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill.
Catherine is survived by her sister, Eleanor Grabowski of Merrill; 3 nieces, Andrea (Dana) Paff of Madison, Wisconsin, Robin (Paul) Holte of Neenah, Wisconsin and Jocelyn (Anthony) Schreier of Edgar, Wisconsin; 2 nephews, Mark (Carol) Paff of Rock Island, Illinois and Jay (Stephanie) Paff of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; 3 great nieces, Jessica (Fiancee: Dan) Walters of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Karianna & Serena Holte of Neenah, Wisconsin; and 1 great nephew, Jeremy Schreier of Edgar, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, John; a nephew, Butch Grabowski; and her brother-in-law, Ed Grabowski.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill, Wisconsin. The Rev. Mike McLain will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1708 E. 10th Street, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
