Myron J. Marquardt, age 82, formally of Merrill, resident of Tomahawk, WI, and Palmetto, FL, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL.
Mike, as his friends and family fondly knew him, was born May 20, 1929, in Merrill, son of the late William and Margaret (Utech) Marquardt. He married Carol Jean (Katke) on Sept. 9, 1950. She survives.
Mike served in the United States Army from 1950 until 1953. He was stationed at Camp Atterbury, IN, and Fort Jackson, SC. Mike was a retired Dairy Fieldman of 30 years for the Associated Milk Producers Incorporated.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He enjoyed wintering with his wife of 61 years near his daughter Stacey in sunny Florida, while spending many years in the beautiful Northwoods of Tomahawk near his son Michael and daughter-in-law Diana. He looked forward to the excitement of following Wis. sports every season. Mike was an avid Milwaukee Brewer, Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan all his life – holding Green Bay Packer season tickets for years sharing them with many friends and family during and after the famed “Glory Years.”
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean Marquardt, of Tomahawk, WI and Palmetto, FL; one daughter, Stacey Marquardt-Becker, of Bradenton, FL; one son, Michael (wife, Diana) Marquardt, of St. Croix, VI; and one sister Miriam Marquardt of Merrill and one brother Duane (Mary) Marquardt of Schofield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Marquardt; three brothers, Ronald, Lyle (Beatrice Marquardt, survives) and Phillip Marquardt; and one sister Merle Teske.
Family will host a future memorial service at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill, at a date yet to be determined in early summer of 2012.
