Bruce Leskey

Bruce Leskey, age 59, of Merrill, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill.

Bruce was born November 13, 1951, in Merrill, the son of the late John “Jack” and Jean (Lang) Leskey. He married the former Sandra (Erickson) Isaacson on July 4, 1992 in Merrill. She survives.
Bruce was a 1970 graduate of Merrill Senior High School where he was on the State Wrestling Championship team. After high school, Bruce served as a life guard for the Merrill municipal swimming pool. He then attended NTC and earned an Associates degree in Accounting. Bruce then worked for Rondele’ Foods in Wausau and later for Employers Mutual Insurance Company. He then owned and operated the Moonlight Inn in Merrill until 1987 when he became the Service and Parts Director for Breaman’s Ford in Merrill.
Bruce was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River. He was a member of Captain’s Cove Resort and was also the chairman of the Lobster Fest at Buffalo Lake campground near Woodruff. Bruce enjoyed playing fantasy football and watching Wisconsin Sports. Bruce also spent 30 years on the “chain gang” for the Merrill Blue Jays football games. He loved camping, fishing, home brewing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Sandy, three children; Jordan Leskey of Tomahawk, Valerie (Tony Burrows) Isaacson and Bruce (Heidi) Isaacson of Merrill. His brother, Jim (Cindy) Leskey of Merrill, 3 grandchildren; Madalia Burrows, Colton Burrows and Brodie Isaacson all of Merrill. His uncle Ray Leskey and cousin Jane (Barry) Jensen both of Wausau and his nephews Matt and Nick Leskey of Merrill. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his 2 children; Chad and Cristina Leskey.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Waid Funeral Home and again from 9:00 AM Wednesday until the hour of services. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park.
