Marie C. Eaton, age 96, of the Town of Schley, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Marie was born September 13, 1914, in Kewaunee, WI, daughter of the late William and Dorothea (Struck) Sommers. She married Ralph Eaton on April 29, 1939, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1999. From 1946 until 1963, Marie and Ralph dairy farmed in the Town of Schley. At this time, Marie also worked for Quality Print in Merrill. From 1963 until 1973, Marie and Ralph lived in Downers Grove, Illinois. In 1973, they moved back to their home in the Town of Schley. Marie was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. Marie was a volunteer with 4-H and Midway Elementary School. She had also volunteered in the ‘Grandparent Program’ at Lincoln Hills for 20 years. Marie was involved with the Gleason area Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jay (Linda) Eaton, of Rockton, IL, and Robert (Mary) Eaton, of the Town of Schley; four grandchildren, Mary Beth (Tom) Zarndt, of West Chicago, IL, Jeremy (Nancy) Bellin, of Grafton, WI, Greg (Melissa) Eaton, of Plainfield, IL, and Sarah Eaton, of Chicago; three step grandchildren, Melissa (Ed) Lander, of Columbia, MD, Russell (Amy) Johnson, of Cincinnati, and Matthew Johnson, of Oshkosh; three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on-the-way; and five step great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 6:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2011, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Steven Anderson will officiate. Burial will take place in Gleason Cemetery, Town of Russell. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. Friday, at the funeral home. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
