Thursday fire in King damages house

A house on County Road D in the Town of King east of Tomahawk suffered significant damage in a fireThursday.

The fire was reported by the residents at about 9 p.m. and smoke and flames were visible when the Tomahawk Fire Department arrived on the scene.

The family was at home when the fire started and everyone was able to get out of the building safely.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. The fire fighters reported that while the building suffered “significant fire damage” in the blaze, it should be salvageable.

In addition to the TFD, Tomahawk Ambulance, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene.
