Evelyn A. Jaeger, age 88, of Merrill, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Evelyn was born May 16, 1922, in Irma, daughter of the late August and Almeda (Gronke) Hahn. She married Ernst Schroeder in 1939. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1953. Evelyn then married Theodore Jaeger on February 19, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1976. Evelyn was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. Evelyn was a life-member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, and flower gardening. In her younger years, Evelyn was a great artist. While at Pine Crest Nursing Home, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Bunco, and working word search puzzles.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Donald) Zabawa, of Tomahawk, and Katherine (Robert) Turner, of Wausau; one son, Clarence Schroeder, of Merrill; one granddaughter, Sue (Tim) Finnegan, of Merrill; two step grandsons, Ronald Turner and William Turner, both of Merrill; two great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Mitchell Finnegan; four step great-grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Steven and Chloe Turner; and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by one daughter, Alfrida Schroeder; an infant sister; three brothers, Gordon, Ernie, and Edwin ‘Jack’ Hahn; and one step-brother, Clifford Hoffman.
The funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will take place at Chat Cemetery, Town of Birch, Lincoln County. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
