LaVila M. Raasch

LaVila M. Raasch, 90, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, Jan.15, 2011, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

She was born Jan. 20, 1920 in the town of Maine, the daughter of the late Ben and Amanda (Baguhn) Woller. She married Norman Raasch on June 1, 1940 in the town of Maine. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2006.
LaVila worked for Weinbrenner Shoe company until her marriage to Norman. She then became a homemaker. LaVila was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Women of Faith, the Altar Guild and did volunteer work for Bethesda Thrift Shop in Wausau. She loved flowers and flower gardening. She enjoyed cooking and was known as an excellent cook. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband in their motor home. LaVila especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren who were very important in her life.
LaVila is survived by her daughter; Gloria (Eugene) Borchardt, one granddaughter; Krista (Andy) Zelinski and 2 great-grandchildren; Katelyn and Jacob Zelinski all of Merrill, one sister; Dorothy (Lloyd) Juhlke of Wausau and 4 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be held Wed., Jan. 19, 2011 at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill The Rev. Alden Beversdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9AM until 11AM Wed. at the Waid Funeral Home.
The Family requests memorials be given to either Faith Lutheran Church or Pine Crest Nursing Home.
