The THS boys hockey team used an incredible rally to lock up an 8-5 home triumph over Medford last Tuesday, then parlayed that momentum into a 5-0 victory at Northland Pines.

Tomahawk trailed the Raiders 5-2 after the second period but ripped off six unanswered goals in the third. Luke Schoone got it rolling with scores :51 (A-Jared Hansen) and 4:31 (A-Kenny Kangas) into the period, then set up Sam Heim at 6:55 for the tying score. Tyler Saindon set Kangas with 9:13 elapsed then netted a Schoone assist with 9:29 gone. Kangas closed it out, with help from Heim, with :01 left.

“It wasn’t a pretty win, but we’ll take it,” THS coach Jake Flohr said. “We finally got things together with six unanswered.”

Garrett Daigle (A-Saindon) and Heim (A-Craig Swan) gave Tomahwk first period goals with 6:24 and 11:55 used up, and THS trailed 3-2. Ole Hanson finished with 18 saves, while the Hatchets put 40 shots on goal.

Details of the Pines’ game were unavailable.

The Hatchets improved to 7-6-0 with the wins and 2-4 in the GNC.
