Irene E. Pick, age 94, of Merrill, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Irene was born March 19, 1916, in the Town of Pine River, Lincoln County, daughter of the late William and Agnes (Schmidtke) Hulke. She married Walter Pick on December 16, 1939, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1977. Irene was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Mission Circle and the Altar Guild. Irene was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a member of a Homemakers Club in Lincoln County. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Anderson, of Merrill; three sons, Daniel (Patsy) Pick, of Merrill, Leon (Jean) Pick, of Platteville, and Ivan (Terry) Pick, of Merrill; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine (Leroy) Dahm, of Merrill, and Laura Murphy, of Appleton; and three brothers, Roger (Betty) Hulke, of Merrill, David (Shirley) Hulke, of Neenah, and Harlin (Faye) Hulke, of Merrill. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Pick; her parents, William and Agnes Hulke; an infant daughter, Mary Ann; one granddaughter, Heather Pick Cygan; and three sisters, Vernette Zimmerman, Emma Mahn, and Alice Nielson.
The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park, Merrill. The visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
