Clara A. Schenk, age 92, of Merrill, died Monday, January 10, 2011, at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
Clara was born November 4, 1918, in the Town of Merrill, daughter of the late August and Emma (Wergin) Schiller. She married Alfred W. Schenk on May 2, 1942, in Merrill. He survives. Clara had been a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, and was also a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. Clara enjoyed traveling with her husband; flower gardening; playing cards; and volunteering for the “Meals on Wheels” program in Merrill.
Survivors include her husband Alfred W. Schenk, Merrill; her daughter, Carol Butts, Marietta, GA; two grandchildren, Kelli (Chris) Hustedt-Hollifield, Canton, GA, and Debra (Steven) Willard, Acworth, GA; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Savannah, Madison, and Brandon; and three sisters, Marge Teske, Merrill, Edna Ranum, Westfield, and Loretta Coyle, Neenah. Clara is preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Schiller; one sister, Frieda Voelz; and two infant siblings.
The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
