Audrey N. Galkin, age 83, formerly of the Gleason area, died Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Audrey was born November 29, 1927, in Gleason, daughter of the late Martin and Edith (Behrens) Henrich. She married Arthur J. “Archie” Galkin on July 6, 1949. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1998. Audrey and her late husband had owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Schley. Even with all the farm work, Audrey still provided her family with homemade bread and other baked goods, and always prepared excellent holiday meals. After retiring from farm work, Audrey was ready to assist her daughter and son-in-law with their evergreen business. Audrey and Archie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She had been an active member of the former Gleason Lioness Club.
Audrey is survived by her four children, Patty Wiedenhoft, Merrill, Michael (Mary Cooper) Galkin, Gleason, Bonnie Galkin, Merrill, and Diana (Brian) Latzig, Gleason; nine grandchildren, Eric, Tina, Lisa, Michele, Leah, Andrea, Ryan, Jonathon, and Kimberly; one step grandson, Dale; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Lyle (Evelyn) Henrich, Rosendale; one brother in law, Bill Dexter, Gleason; and several nieces and nephews. Audrey is preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Schram and Arlene Dexter; and also by one brother, Merle Henrich.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 27, 2010, at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. The Rev. Steven L. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Latvian Cemetery, Town of Schley, Lincoln County. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the church.
