Members of the county’s Public Property Committee are requesting that a group of interested residents meet to explore ways that the county fairgrounds can become more utilized. Besides talking about what other events may be held at the fairgrounds, this group will have input on how those events may be marketed to a wide audience. Anyone who has an interest is welcome, including those who currently organize and administer fairground events or who sell concessions at them.
The currently underutilized fairgrounds can become, if marketed properly, much more of a fun community gathering place. Efforts to do this will likely have to be built upon the already successful presence on the grounds of the Lincoln County Fair, the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo, and the few other annual events held there.
The first fairgrounds marketing and use discussion will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 6:30 p.m., Lincoln County Social Services Building, 607 N. Sales St., Lower Floor meeting room. If you have any questions or if you wish to RSVP for the meeting by Jan. 25 please contact Art Lersch at the UW-Extension office, 715-539-1075.
