Arlene J. Gleason

Arlene J. Gleason (Joslin), 83, of Rhinelander, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Ministry St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1927, in Milwaukee, to Herman and Evelyn Matthiae.
Arlene attended schools in Gleason and Merrill; graduating from Merrill High School in 1945. She married Wesley Gleason in October of 1947. Arlene was employed in the OB Department at St. Mary’s Hospital from 1965 to 1985. She then worked for the Rhinelander School District as a teacher’s aide until retiring in 1993. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Douglas N. Joslin of Rhinelander; her children, Virginia (Norman) Forsythe of Germantown, WI and John (Linda) Gleason, Thomas (Sarah) Gleason, Terri Gleason, and Denise (Lester) Zunker all of Rhinelander; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Ney and Sally (Neil) Tesch, both of Merrill; and brothers, Dennis (Donna) Matthiae of Merrill, Douglas (Marie) Matthiae of Iowa, and Ralph (Gwen) and Ronald (Rose) Matthiae, both of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wesley on June 12, 1997.
Funeral services for Arlene were held Friday, Nov. 12, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414/ www.carlsonfh.com) with Pastor Mark Ring officiating. Burial is in the Gleason Cemetery.
