The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal ATV crash that occurred Saturday in the Town of Harrison.
A 911 call just after 2 p.m. reported that a 61-year old Marathon County man had struck a tree on an ATV trail off of Cinder Road and had been critically injured. The county’s recreation deputy was in the area and arrived on the scene with his ATV within minutes and found the victim had no pulse and was not breathing.
Tomahawk EMS was brought to the scene of the crash by the Tomahawk Fire Department six-wheeled rescue vehicle and they determined the victim, who was identified as Harvey A. Woodward III of Mosinee, had died in the crash.
Woodward was a retired sergeant with the Marathon County Sheriff’s department and son of former Lincoln County Sheriff Harvey Woodward Jr.
According to the investigators the victim was traveling on the trail when he lost control and struck a tree. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but suffered fatal head injuries.
