Merrill Police Department

September 24

1:36 p.m.- An officer received information that a red in color truck had driven through the flood water in Lion’s park leaving large ruts in the lawn. The vehicle and driver were located. The driver, a 17 year old male, admitted to driving through the water and causing the damage to the lawn. The driver was cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.

Throughout the day officers received multiple complaints of juveniles and adults in and around the flooded area of Stanges park. The park was closed due to the large amount of flooded area within the park. The complaints included juveniles in the flood water with tubes, people walking in the water and juveniles playing on the flooded playground equipment. All individuals were advised of the danger s of flood water and advised to leave the park.

September 25

An officer was dispatched to a dog bite complaint. While investigating the incident with the dog owners, it was found that both of the owners had warrants through the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. They were taken into custody.

Officers responded to an address on Thomas Street in regards to two people trespassing. The caller said that the two people were inside of the garage. Officers entered the garage and did not locate the two parties. They did, however, locate a small marijuana growing operation in the rafters of the garage. Officers seized 33 sprouted marijuana plants from the property.

September 26

12:33 p.m.- an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of S. Center Ave. for a theft of bike complaint. The victim told police that sometime between 9:45 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. someone came on his property and took a bike that was parked by his garage. At this time there are no suspects.

1:37 p.m.- an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of N. Center Ave. for a theft of bike complaint. The victim told police that sometime since 8:00 pm the night before someone came on her property and took a bike that was parked in there yard. At this time there are no suspects.

September 28

Resident of the 400 block of Wisconsin Street reported the top of her gas grill missing, she suspected her neighbor took the top in for recycling. Schulz’s Wrecking confirmed that the suspect had brought in aluminum cans and the grill lid. The lid was returned to the owner and the female suspect was cited for theft.

September 29

9:37 a.m.- an officer was dispatched to the Probation and Parole office. After arriving on scene the officer took a 17 year old male party into custody for a probation violation. The male was transported to the jail without incident.

1:18 p.m.- an officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Hollywood Dr. for a theft complaint. The victim had someone enter her unlocked vehicle and steal multiple items including a small amount of cash. This investigation is still ongoing.

1:37 p.m.- an officer was dispatched to the Probation and Parole office. After arriving on scene the officer took a male party into custody for a probation violation. The male was transported to the jail without incident.

1:40 p.m.- an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of E. 5th Street for a theft complaint. The victim had someone enter her unlocked home and take a large amount of cash and a lab top computer during the time period of the 25 and 26th of September. This investigation is still ongoing.

September 30

Thefts reported from two unlocked vehicles parked overnight in the driveway of a Jenny Ct. residence, about $10 in change taken from one vehicle and $70 cash and an iPod taken from the other vehicle.
