Next Saturday, October 9th, the local Girl Scout Council in partnership with Aspirus Women’s Health and the Susan G. Komen Foundation is hosting a breast cancer awareness event called Think Pink!, held in the Merrill High School gymnasium. The event takes place from 1-4 (registration will run from 12:30-12:50), and costs only $12 for registered Girl Scouts and $24 for non-Girl Scouts (will register her for the 2010-2011 membership year). The event is open for girls in grades 4-12 and moms or female friends and family! At the event, Girl Scouts will band together with the Aspirus Women’s Health Center to make a difference in the life of women during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Beginning with a one-mile awareness walk, girls will also check out women’s health booths, attend a Cancer Survivor Program, tour a Mobile Imaging Unit, and take action to lend support by designing a quilt square for a Girl Scout quilt to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and will build a comfort kit to be donated to a Women’s Health Center for cancer patients. Wear your favorite pink clothing to show your support for the cause! To register, call 888.747.6945, ext. 5018 and ask about Think Pink!, or visit http://www.gsnwgl.org. The first 50 girls to register will receive a Pink Promise Tote, so don’t delay!
