September 10

8:04 a.m.- officers responded to the 1100 block of E 8th St. The caller reported sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered the unlocked residence. Stolen was prescription medication, $400 in cash and a facial scrubber. A backdoor was found to be ajar and is suspected to be where the person(s) entered. One person was named as a possible suspect, items were seized for possible fingerprint evidence. Investigation continues.

September 11

12:59 a.m.- officers were dispatched to the 600 block of N Cottage St. A female called stating someone had entered her vehicle. Her boyfriend confronted the male and detained him temporarily after a brief struggle. The suspect was able to get away and fled. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect was described as a male, mid-twenties, approx. 6′ tall with a medium build. Nothing was found to be missing from the vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.

2:13 a.m.- officers responded to the 1300 block of W Main st. A male had entered someone’s residence without permission and had been banging on the door and a vehicle. The male was found to be extremely intoxicated and confused about which residence he was at. He stated the couch looked familiar which is why he thought it was the correct residence. The caller did not wish to pursue criminal trespassing charges and the suspect was cited for disorderly conduct and released to his girlfriend.

8:03 a.m.- officers responded to the 700 block of Tee Lane Dr. The caller reported that sometime overnight someone had entered the unlocked garage and unlocked vehicles in the garage and stole $200 in cash as well as an Ipod. Investigation is ongoing.

5:51 p.m.- officers responded to the 700 block of Cottage St. The caller reported sometime overnight someone entered two unlocked vehicles. Stolen between the two vehicles was approx. $10 in change, a folding pocket knife, tie down straps, a tool box with 15 wrenches and four cans of beer. Investigation is ongoing.

September 12

1:59 a.m.- an officer conducted a traffic stop on E 3rd st at Van Rensselaer St after observing a vehicle driving erratically. The driver admitted to being intoxicated and refused field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for OWI.

10:06 a.m.- an officer responded to the intersection of Pier St and Taylor St. The caller reported the stop sign was missing from the intersection. The officer found the stop sign approx. 100 ft away along with a mailbox. The sign appeared to have been damaged by a vehicle striking it. The mailbox owner was located and the undamaged mailbox was returned. Unknown suspect.

6:53 p.m.- officers responded to the 500 block of W Riverside Ave. A driver was westbound on Riverside Ave and became blinded by the sun. The driver could not see and struck a trailer causing her to collide with the vehicle the trailer was attached to as well as a person standing behind the vehicle. The struck pedestrian was transported by ambulance for treatment.

September 13

6:39 a.m.- officers responded to a West Main St tavern. Officers met with the owner who discovered the establishment had been burglarized overnight. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen. Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing.

8:03 a.m.- officers responded to the 400 block of Scott st. The caller stated someone had spray painted graffiti on a WPS box outside of the residence. Unknown suspect(s) at this time. WPS was contacted.

1:48 p.m.- officers responded to the TB Scott library. The caller reported someone had entered her vehicle and stole 2 prescription medications. The caller stated she found the empty bottles by the bridge. Investigation is ongoing.

3:57 p.m.- officers responded to the 700 block of Cottage St. The caller reported he discovered someone had entered his vehicle and stole a shock dog collar and a bag of tools. The caller believed the theft had occurred the weekend prior.

September 14

12:36 p.m.- report of two SUVs driving fast & recklessly through Merrill Memorial Park, officer found black marks on pavement & tire tracks on grass, male driver located & cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle, also warned about contributing to delinquency as he had 1 truant & three other high school students in his vehicle.

2:33 p.m.- elderly Merrill woman nearly scammed out of $2700 by an overseas caller who claimed to be her grandson. When she soon realized she’d been duped, Merrill Wal-Mart was able to stop the Western Union transfer she’d made from the store & refunded her money.

5:27 p.m.- reported theft of stereo from vehicle & the sticker from the license plate while parked on N. Court St.

7:31 p.m.- shoplifter reported at Family Dollar, female suspect fled the store on foot but was located by officers on W. Main St. with the stolen merchandise, she was cited for retail theft.

September 16

3:48 p.m.- man found dead in his vehicle parked at County Market.
