Clarence Utech

Clarence Utech loved his community and his church.
Growing up on his family’s town of Maine dairy farm, Clarence knew the value of hard work and “neighbors helping neighbors’. He was very proud of operating his farm along side his son Jeff. Their farm has been in the Utech family since 1898. Clarence served on the Town of Maine Board of Supervisors, Emergency Fire Board, and the Town of Maine School Board. Clarence was a past member of the Marathon County Farm Bureau, Holstein Association, and the Berlin-Hamburg Lion’s Club. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where he was involved in lay ministry and the Lutheran Layman’s League.
Clarence was born June 11, 1919 in the town of Maine to the late Arthur and Martha (Scharbius) Utech. He married Adeline Neumann on May 12, 1941 at Grace Lutheran Church, town of Maine. They were married 69 years before Adeline passed away on July 10th of this year.
At the age of 91, Clarence passed away at his home on Monday, September 20, 2010.
Survivors include his daughter, Diane (Michael) Foster of Powhatan, VA, two sons, Randal (Nancy) Utech of Richmond, TX, Jeffery (Janet) Utech of Merrill, 7 grandchildren, Connie (Jeff) Warner, Jennifer (Steve) Ott, Chad (Renae) Utech, Shawn, Christine, Katherine, and Alex Utech, 4 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren and a brother, Orvel Utech of Wisconsin Rapids. He was further preceded in death by four brothers, Norman, Wilbert, Elroy, Myron and a sister, Edna.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Bruce Lamont and Reverend Chris Sansom will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
