The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new postcard entitled “Paths Thru the Pines” that depicts photos of the four-seasons in Merrill. It’s all a part of the Chamber’s new tourism theme, “Visit Merrill… a reason for every season” campaign.
The Chamber will be producing a series of five postcards as part of their upcoming 100th anniversary celebration. The remaining four cards will each depict photographs of Merrill in each season – spring, summer, fall and winter. The first postcard is now available at the Chamber of Commerce office and can be purchased for $.50 each.
The chamber’s executive director, Debbe Kinsey said the Chamber has collected numerous photographs over the years, submitted by a variety of local residents or taken by staff. She has begun selecting photographs that will be used in a variety of formats, projects and advertisements. Some of these photographs can currently be viewed on Facebook where the chamber has an album posted on Merrill’s natural beauty.
Kinsey has been using real Merrill photographs, rather than the normal stock photos in advertisements placed in American Road Magazine, Up North Magazine and other publications and has received positive feedback from visitors and those seeking information on the Merrill area. “When I show people real photographs of Merrill, there is frequently an emotional response because the photographs depicting our landscapes and nature are so beautiful,” concluded Kinsey. “Seeing Merrill through a cameras lens is magical and we need to share it with the outside world.” This postcard series is a step in that direction.
