Two rounds of storms passed through the area last Tuesday prompting watches and warnings to be issued in the county.
Just after 11 a.m. deputies and the Town of Russell Fire Department responded to County Road CCC east of State Road 17 after high winds took down two trees in a yard. One of the trees went into a power pole dragging it down into the yard. The wires going into the house also were pulled from the side along with the power box.
Deputies and firefighters stood by while Wisconsin Public Service worked to clear up the mess.
When a second wave of storms rolled through after 9 p.m., deputies assisted the highway department and Wisconsin Public Service with 10 different reports of trees falling onto the roadway were received. The main damage took place north of Merrill in the Towns of Rock Falls, Harding and Merrill.
