Police seek dog that bit bicyclist

On July 28, the Merrill Police Department received a complaint of a dog bite that occurred on Memorial Drive near Merrill Memorial Cemetery.

The 19-year-old victim was riding a bike on the east side of Memorial Drive hear the cemetery around 11 a.m. The dog was being walked by a female going south along Memorial Drive. The dog is described as standing about knee high, gold in color with short hair. The dog has a build of a pit bull, but with the face of a Chihuahua. The dog had on a red or orange collar with tags.

The female walking the dog was described as being around 5’4″-5’6″ tall with short brown wavy/spiked hair and was thought to be in her late 40s or early 50s, wearing a pink shirt. The dog was on a retractable leash.

Unless the dog is identified and it is determined to be vaccinated, as a precaution, the victim will have to go through a series of medical treatments to prevent any possible rabies infection from taking hold.
