On July 28, the Merrill Police Department received a complaint of a dog bite that occurred on Memorial Drive near Merrill Memorial Cemetery.

The 19-year-old victim was riding a bike on the east side of Memorial Drive hear the cemetery around 11 a.m. The dog was being walked by a female going south along Memorial Drive. The dog is described as standing about knee high, gold in color with short hair. The dog has a build of a pit bull, but with the face of a Chihuahua. The dog had on a red or orange collar with tags.

The female walking the dog was described as being around 5’4″-5’6″ tall with short brown wavy/spiked hair and was thought to be in her late 40s or early 50s, wearing a pink shirt. The dog was on a retractable leash.

Unless the dog is identified and it is determined to be vaccinated, as a precaution, the victim will have to go through a series of medical treatments to prevent any possible rabies infection from taking hold.

The Merrill Police Department is requesting that anyone with any knowledge or information about this animal please call 715-536-8311.
