Legion state vice commander

Joe Story of Tomahawk’s Bronsted-Searl Post 93 of the American Legion was elected to the position of American Legion Department of Wisconsin State Vice Commander at the American Legion convention held this past weekend in Wausau. Joe had served the past two years as District Commander serving seven counties and 30 American Legion Posts.

As Department Vice Commander Joe is the representative of the Department Commander on all matters referred to the Vice Commander. At the request of the Department Commander, the Vice Commander also will preside over meetings of the Department Convention or the Department Executive Committee.

A Department Vice Commander is also responsible for overseeing Legion membership activities in three districts of the Department. In Joe’s case, he is responsible for the 8th, 9th, and 11th Districts. These three districts consist of 22 counties and 125 American Legion Posts. The area stretches approximately from Green Bay to Marshfield to Ashland to Marinette.
