Scholz to become administrative coordinator?

At the July Lincoln County Board meeting in Tomahawk Tuesday, the supervisors were set to vote on a resolution that would appoint Lincoln County Highway Commissioner Randy Scholz to the position of county administrative coordinator.

Scholz’s appointment was approved by the board’s Administrative and Legislative committee last Monday.

If the resolution passes, Scholz would replace Tim Meehean, who has been serving as interim administrative coordinator. Meehean, who was also holding down his regular duties as Pine Crest Nursing Home Administrator, had announced earlier in the summer that he was stepping out of the top job to focus solely on running the nursing home.

Scholz has been with the Lincoln County Highway Department since 1996 and has served as the Highway Commissioner for the last seven years. Lately he has been trying to get a handle on the shortfall in the highway fund that has caused the department to be over budget.

Scholz said that the Highway Commission would determine how to fill his position at its Aug. 5 meeting if the resolution appointing him administrative coordinator passes.

“It could be on an interim basis or full-time,” Scholz said. “It could be someone from within the department or someone from outside.”

He said he would help out at the Highway Department until a successor could be brought up to speed.
