Merrill Bible Church, Merrill
Merrill Bible Church will be having their 7th annual Free Weekend Aug. 22-24. It will start Friday at 4:30 p.m. with their famous Free Fish Fry. Fish will be served until 6:45, or when the fish runs out. Two events are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23: a Free Car Wash in the afternoon from noon-5 p.m. with eager youth to wash your car; and in the evening a Free Couple’s Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the movie “God’s Not Dead.” Free child care will be provided. Reservations are required, please RSVP to 715-536-1925 by Aug. 21. All above events will be held at Merrill Bible Church, 508 Eugene St. (between Jefferson School and Schulz’s Recycling on Merrill’s west side.). Merrill Bible Church will end their Free Weekend, Aug. 24, Sunday morning, by the Gazebo at Normal Park. A Free Pancake Breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Special music featuring Living River starts at 8:45 a.m., with worship service at 10 a.m.
The Merrill Park and Recreation Department will be having a “Huge Indoor Rummage Sale” at the Smith Center on Aug. 23, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The Merrill Park and Recreation Department is renting out space for anyone who wants to bring in their gently used clothes, toys, crafty items, furniture or whatever else you have. You don’t have to worry if it rains – all sales will be in the arena area. No driving from sale to sale. Call Dawn at 715-536-7313 to rent your space out. Erika's Grace Benefit

Merrill Town Hall, Merrill
A benefit will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Merrill Town Hall to benefit Erika Nelson Liebert in her battle with breast cancer. Erika, the daughter of Dave and Dawn Nelson of Merrill, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in February 2013. She underwent chemotherapy, followed by a double mastectomy and radiation. Erika’s cancer recurred in March of this year, spread to her lung in July, and recently has spread again. On Saturday, the doors open at 3 p.m., with a dinner at 5:30 p.m. A cake and pie auction will be held after dinner. America’s Party Band will provide live entertainment from 8-11 p.m. Admission is by a $25 donation, which includes entry into a drawing for an Ariens snow blower. Tickets are available at the door or at Nelson’s Power House, Johnson’s Pharmacy, River Valley Bank and Schult’s Country Inn. Silent auctions and drawings will be held. Motel stays in Madison, Wausau or Minneapolis, a Henry rifle, Husqvarna chainsaw, and a football signed by Bryan Bulaga are included among the many silent auction and drawing items. Ice Cream Social

St. John Lutheran Church and School in Merrill will be hosting a free Ice Cream Social at the gazebo in Normal Park from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24. Everyone is invited to join in celebrating the ending of summer and the many blessings that God has so graciously granted us. Come and put some of your favorite toppings on Culver’s ice cream.
