Max Zelich is a self-made auto mechanic who has been working on vehicles and motors nearly his entire life. In 2016, Zelich decided it was time to make it an official business, with the opening of Zelich Customs LLC. Zelich Customs also just celebrated their grand reopening and ribbon cutting at their new location, 2213 E Main St.
When asked about his background in this line of work, Zelich was confident in his answer saying, “Honestly, self-taught. I did a lot of reading and learning from books, online articles and such. I’ve always took stuff apart and then put it back together and I got good at that, so I started doing that to vehicles and as long as you know the right procedures, you’re good as gold.”
“I really want to emphasize that we are a full-service auto repair shop,” adds Zelich. “Everyone stops in and asks “‘Do you fix vehicles?'” because I guess my signage makes people think we only do custom stuff like wheels, tires and lifts kits, but our bread and butter is really repairs.”
According to Zelich, he will be building an addition to his shop to house North Star Suspension, another business he owns. “I actually own four different businesses,” Zelich said. “But the one that is connected to Zelich Customs is North Star Suspension. We will be building an addition to the (Zelich Custom) shop in the next couple of weeks to hold our metal working equipment for North Star Suspension. We are currently working out of the shop at my house and that’s just too far to go back and forth.”
Zelich Customs is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Zelich Customs LLC at (715)218-5400.
