The Merrill Teachers Association donated $700 to the Merrill Optimist Playground, on Friday, June 21.
MAPS Special Education Teacher Marcy Smith, was joined by Carrie Cordova, as they presented a $700 check to Randy Wixson, the organizer of construction for the playground.
The Merrill Optimist Playground will be a handicap accessible playground for children of all ages. The $315,000 playground was paid for by many generous donations, including large donations from the Biermann Family, Lincoln Community Bank and Lincoln Wood.
Construction of the playground will begin on July 26, and according to Wixson, should be finished by mid August.
