Dettmering off to solid start at state golf tourney

With day one of the WIAA Division 1 state golf tournament in the books, Merrill’s Russell Dettmering is in a five way tie for second place. Dettmering teed off at 7 a.m. Monday morning and was  in control of his game all round. Dettmering birdied two holes with only one bogey, finishing with a 71 (-1) for the day.
The four golfers tied with Dettmering include: Jack Blair of Marquette University, Piercen Hunt of Arrowhead, Preston Cedergren of Bay Port and Nick Schroeder of Mukwonago.
Round two action will begin on Tuesday at noon, where all of the golfers will be chasing Blake Wisdom of Badger, who shot a 70 (-2) on day one.
