March 30
At 12:31 pm, an officer responded to a business in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue in regards to a suspicious vehicle. The responding officer made contact with the occupant of the vehicle and during the course of the contact, it was found that the male subject had a warrant for his arrest. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail on the active warrant.

At 1:06 pm, Officers were dispatched to the area of a business on Pine Ridge Avenue for a report of a male subject that had walked up to a person in a vehicle and began yelling at them and pulled a handgun out. Officers were able to locate the male subject and he was taken into custody. The male subject was found to be intoxicated. He was taken to the jail for multiple charges.

April 1
At 4:06pm a store reported a male customer had become upset about their store policy and became hostile toward one of the employees. They wished for him to be informed he is no longer welcome in their store. Contact was made with the man who had a different version of events. He was informed he was no longer allowed at the store.

At 9:04pm a caller reported her neighbor was inside of his residence yelling and using foul language which was upsetting her child. The man was reported to be alone inside. Officers could hear the man yelling inside of the apartment upon arrival. The man refused to speak to officers face to face but spoke through the door. He admitted to yelling inside the residence. Officers have been at the residence numerous times in the recent past for this same issue and
the man has been warned to cease his behavior as it was disrupting neighbors. He was cited for disorderly conduct. At 10:00pm the caller reported the man was again yelling once again. Officers made contact again and the man admitted to yelling inside of the apartment. The man was informed he would now be criminally charged with disorderly conduct. He will be summonsed to court for that charge.

April 2
At 10:34am an officer observed a male in a vehicle that he knew had a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed through dispatch. The vehicle was stopped and the man was arrested for the warrant.

At 11:53am a caller reported a driver had been backing up when suddenly the vehicle began spinning and reversed into her yard nearly striking her, struck a vehicle and ended up stuck in a snow bank in her yard. Officers observed the driver of the vehicle displayed characteristics indicative of intoxication.
The driver admitted to drinking and removed a bottle of brandy from her coat. The driver was placed through field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 1:43pm it was found part of the gazebo at Normal Park had been lit on fire. Investigation is ongoing. If you have any information about this you are urged to call the Merrill Police Department at 715-536-8311 or Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at 715-3726.

At 6:18pm a caller reported a male at a residence was causing a disturbance. Officers spoke to the occupants of the residence and agreed it did not rise to a level of enforcement action. The man was found to be on probation with a rule of absolute sobriety. The man appeared to be under the influence of a drug(s) and was arrested for the probation violation.

April 3
At 3:18pm an Officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Street with an individual who had an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed during the stop and the male individual was taken into custody. During the investigation, methamphetamine was discovered. The male subject was taken to the Lincoln County Jail for the warrant with other charges to follow.

April 4
Around 4:00am there was a banging noise heard on a door in the 100 block of South Foster Street. The area was checked on later that morning by a resident who discovered there to be damage to the door frame leading them to believe that there was someone attempting to break in. The damage consisted of a cracked door frame. The investigation is ongoing.

At 3:38pm a business on West Main Street reported that a male and female had shoplifted items from the place of business and left the area on foot. Officers responded and were able to locate the two individuals suspected of the shoplifting. Upon further investigation, the individuals eventually admitted to the evidence of the shoplifting and were released as charges will be forwarded for shoplifting.

April 6
At 8:39 pm, officers were dispatched to a fight in progress. The caller stated there was a large group of people pounding on their neighbors’ door and they thought one male party had a handgun in his hand. Prior to officers arriving on scene, all parties fled on foot and in vehicles. Contact was made with three individuals who were in the area. They stated they were the victims of the incident but refused to give officers any information about the incident or who
was involved. Investigation is ongoing.

April 7
At 1:44 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for operating the wrong way on a one way street. The driver displayed signs of intoxication, was placed through field sobriety tests and failed. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.

At 3:40 pm, an officer was dispatched to a retail theft complaint. The caller advised a male juvenile had stolen a bottle of alcohol from the store. The juvenile was later located and was cited for retail theft and underage possession of alcohol.
