Ask an Official: Merrill City Administrator discusses Pine Ridge Avenue expansion

This week’s featured question was submitted for Merrill City Administrator Dave Johnson

Merrill City Administrator Dave Johnson

The question reads:
“Is there still plans to extend Pine Ridge Avenue to County G? I remember hearing some talk of it a while ago but haven’t heard much lately. If so, what’s the reasoning behind it? Thanks.”

Answer as given by Johnson
The extension of Pine Ridge Avenue between Highway 64 and County Highway G is still a go. In 2019, we will complete land acquisition and design work for the project. Extending Pine Ridge Avenue will allow for direct access to the new industrial park on Highway G, as well as alleviating traffic on Memorial Drive and Johnson Street through a controlled intersection. It will provide access for future development along this corridor. We will extend water and sewer service under Pine Ridge that will allow us to loop the water system, as well as provide water and sewer for future development.”
